The thing still has the original wooden decks. Can you imagine how much time those poor sailors spent cleaning and treating them?



What's in here? We probably got to explore about 1/3 of the ship. I'm not sure why so much of it was closed off. We got to see the officer's living area and chow hall, but we couldn't see the tight living quarters for the enlisted ranks or their living areas.
This was the Control Room...I think. There was a guy posted in here making sure that no button pushing was going on...oh man. The boys were bummed. There were tons of buttons and switches, some said cool things like "FIRE". See Ronan? He is making sure the guy is still watching him. Darn buttons are irresistible. Speaking of buttons, since we live on the 15th floor, we ride up and down the elevator several times a day and there is one great big red button which is right in the boy's face everyday...will they be able to resist for 4 months?
The Arizona Memorial. Greg has been on this thing several times, but I have not. No kiddos allowed. I will just take his word on its coolness level. I do not like standing in line in the hot sun.

We took the boys to explore the Missouri which is parked in Pearl Harbor. I was thinking they were going to give us a military rate of $5.00 or maybe $10.00 at most. Nope it cost us a whopping $50.00 to see this thing! It was cool, but not $50.00 cool. The boys had a blast exploring 7 decks, going up and down the ladders, and going in door after door. Oh and there were lots of buttons to push and levers to pull and guns to pretend to shoot.
