Making a move
Since we have many friends and family members who love to have updates, I figured this might be an easier way to do it. So here goes...the Myers family blog. Greg is having a wonderful time finishing the bedroom in the basement. He is determined to finish it this month, so we can start packing next month. Our house is full of drywall dust and sawdust, but Greg is a great handyman so I will put up with the mess. Why are we finishing a basement in a house we are moving out of in two months? Good question...seems dumb, but when we sell it in about 3 years, 5 bedroom houses sell much better in Salt Lake City. I have been keeping very busy doing whatever I do all day....Teach Ronan kindergarten, Charley preschool, cook, clean, keep the naughty dog from eating the drywall off the dining room and entertain the wild boys. Ronan and his big imagination spends a large part of his day turning the entire living room into a fort which includes every toy he owns. I occasionally make them clean it up just so I can see the floor and clean it, but it only looks nice for about 10 minutes until the fort gets rebuilt. He is doing great with reading and math. Charley has a mind of his own. He hates to sleep, but also loves fort building. I do not like messy fort building. I trip over them all day. Nani is the big, frizzy, shedding, chewing puppy that we love. She is in doggy school every Wednesday and is learning very quickly how to be a good dog. She loves to eat plastic, drywall and drain pipes. She is a labradoodle, but sheds horribly. Kada is our needy kitty who wakes Greg and I up faithfully every day at 5:30am. I sleep with a squirt bottle by my bed to shut her up. For those of you who don't know, Greg has decided to leave the Marine Corps after 14 years and start us with a new life. We are all very excited about this and can't wait to get going. Salt Lake City is a stuffy town with cool mountains, and way too much air pollution. I am counting down the days until we can leave. We are on our way to the Portland area, we think West Linn. We have spent countless hours researching neighborhoods and schools and hopefully we picked a good place to settle down. Since we will be renting, we still have another move ahead of us, but at least it will be across town instead of a two day drive. Greg gets to drive the uhaul with Ronan, Charley and the cat. I get the dog in the car. She is very good in the car, but insists on riding in the front seat. She is way to good for the floor. I don't think it will be the best 2 days of our lives. We are definitely looking forward to spending lots of time with the family! So that's it for now.
