Owl Fest

We spent a nice Saturday afternoon hiking around Tryon Nature Park. At the beginning of our hike we got to see a Great Horned owl! He was super high in the tree guarding his nest, the camera was super zoomed and impossible to hold still, so the pictures are a little fuzzy. Then the boys got to dissect owl pellets (regurgitated fur and bone balls). Very gross, but you know they loved it. They both found feathers, little bones and bird claws...yummy. Then they made owl masks and saw some live owls up close.

New kitchen

Old Kitchen...hidden hot water heater in cupboard...just nasty. We removed EVERYTHING including drywall, pipes, flooring, lighting, sink, electrical. There was no room for a fridge or dishwasher. After MANY trips to Home Depot, long nights and geysers x2 (Greg did the plumbing), we have a new kitchen. I am so happy to not be cooking on the camp stove in the garage which was on top of the dryer in my winter coat.

Yeah.....new kitchen and dining too.

Charley's piano practice

Charley is on day 3 of piano lessons and he takes it very seriously. He has had 1 lesson and can't wait for the next. He wants to be a fast piano player.

Sledding Sunday

We finally made it sledding....so much fun!

Christmas 2010

Off we flew to San Diego for Christmas, with sunshine, beach time, Sea World, Lego Land and cousin time in mind....not so much. Cousin time was awesome!! We had a great visit with Greg's brother Eric, sister in law Jennifer and girls, Savannah, Summer and Paris, Grandma and Grandpa Reno and Jennifer's mom, stepdad and sister. We ate lots, slept lots, drank lots of wine and had a trip full of relaxation, which is what we really needed. But man, the pissing rain had us down. I promised the boys a trip to Sea World and Lego Land and had free tickets to both!! But we got rained out, so we took mini trips to the Scrips Aquarium, Balboa Park museum visits (we got to visit our good friends that we knew from Hawaii!! It was great seeing you Tara!!), a cactus garden visit, mini beach visits and a trip to the mall to stand in a long line to visit Santa and sugar up the kids with cinnamon rolls. Over all we had a good trip, but the boys are really wanting to back soon and see the sites we had planned. Thanks for the great visit Eric and Jennifer!!

We also went to a nativity play at a huge church and the kids were excited to ride a camel!
